This new funding will allow us to develop the “Women in the Workplace” stream of learning

Since the idea of Me Plus More first came about, we always wanted our memberships to be accessible to all people. Now, thanks to the support of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s Office for Women, we can ensure that all women have the opportunity to learn crucial skills for employment.

We are overjoyed to be amongst 60 amazing organisations across Australia to receive a grant from the Women’s Leadership and Development Program! Our new “Women in the Workplace” stream of learning will help women with intellectual disabilities to thrive within the workplace.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women, Senator the Hon Marise Payne, said the projects have a focus on boosting women’s employment opportunities and supporting women’s safety.

“These projects are estimated to benefit around 40,000 Australian women nation-wide, including women from diverse backgrounds and those at high risk of long-term unemployment”, Minister Payne said.

The grant funding is for a wide range of projects across 5 key areas which include:
Women’s Economic Security, Women’s Job Creation, Women’s Leadership, Women’s Safety and Women’s Workforce Participation all targeted to improve outcomes for Australian
Women.

This funding allows Me Plus More to develop a stream of learning and membership program with a specific focus on Women. Not only will this stream of learning focus on skills for employment, but it will also teach invaluable skills required to work towards one’s overall independence.

Why does this mean so much to us? Because receiving funding for a project specifically for women with intellectual disabilities indicates a commitment from the Commonwealth Government in upskilling all women to ensure they have the opportunity to have a bright and positive future.
