What skills or attributes does someone need for a job?
We asked our members!

What skills and attributes does someone need for a job? There are many that employers look for, and during the interview it’s really important that you show you have those traits they are looking for. Your potential employer will be looking to see whether you are fit for the job. If you have an intellectual disability you should still apply for that job you want as you may be just what they are looking for!

What is an attribute?

An attribute means a characteristic that you possess which is positive.
The ladies in our Me Plus More members community chat have been thinking about what attributes are important to employers in the interview, and what attributes you should have to secure the job!

And… here is what they came up with:

“Be passionate”

 – Carmel

“Be efficient with time”

 – Rochelle

“Be enthusiastic, friendly and happy”

– Holly

“Be a good team player ”

– Tahli

“Have a good attitude”

 – Viv

“Be responsible”

 – Eleanor

With all this in mind Carla says “skills are very important” and we couldn’t agree more!
Now, these are the top attributes we could come up with!
But what do you think your attributes are?

Remember an attribute is not necessarily a learnt skill but a great characteristic to have. Most employers look at your attitude and personality to see whether you would fit in with the team and can pick up new skills.
The next time you have an interview be sure to show and tell the employers your attributes!
